Gator~itas

Something that you may not know, is that Hubby & I love our margaritas! Especially now that warmer weather is on the horizon. It is so nice to sit down and relax with a glass (or two) after a long and tiring day.

But what do you do when there is no margarita mix in the house?! Hubby came up with this brilliant solution... Make them with lemon-lime flavored Gatorade!! I have to say, the flavor is spot on! We might just start making 'Gator~itas' all the time! They're so easy to throw together - and they have all of the good for you vitamins and electrolytes from the Gatorade. It's a win-win!

 Printable Recipe
Ingredients:
  • Tequila
  • Gatorade (lemon-lime flavor)
  • Ice
  • Rimming Salt (optional)
  • Lime Wedges (optional)

Method:

If you are going to rim your glass with salt, pour a small amount of the Gatorade into a saucer. Pour rimming salt (or you can use sea salt) into a shallow dish that is slightly larger than the rim of the glass. Dip the rim of the glass into the Gatorade, and then into the salt. Twist the glass a little, to ensure a good amount of salt sticks to it.

Fill the glass about 1/2 way with ice. Pour in 1 shot of your favorite Tequila.  Add a little more, if you want your Gator~ita to have a bigger bite. ;) Top it off with the Gatorade and stir. (You could mix this in a shaker, but we just do it this way.)

Garnish your drink with a wedge of lime, if desired, to make it really authentic.
(I didn't have any, at the time.)

Enjoy!
